How to Make It

Step 1

Combine roast and chopped onion in a 4-quart slow cooker.

Step 2

Combine cola and next 7 ingredients; reserve 1/2 cup in refrigerator. Pour remaining mixture over roast and onion.

Step 3

Cook, covered, on HIGH 6 hours or until roast is very tender; drain and shred roast. Keep warm.

Step 4

Combine reserved 1/2 cup cola mixture, ketchup, and butter in a small saucepan; cook mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, just until thoroughly heated. Pour over shredded roast, stirring gently. Spoon onto buns, and serve with potato chips and pickle spears, if desired.

If I ever want to impress guests this will now be my go-to recipe. It was so easy and so so so good! The alterations I made were: used cherry coke, used 1.75 lbs of beef, cooked for 5 1/2 hrs, and used 1 onion. I'd follow the directions if I had everything on hand. Will definitely make over and over and over again!

I thought this recipe was great. The only things I changed were that I used one onion and a bouillon cube instead of granules. I will definitely make again. Served with coleslaw.

My whole family likes this recipe including my teenage boys. I like it because it's so easy. You don't have to braise the meat so very little clean up. Just throw everything in the crock pot and go. It's perfect for my busy schedule.

Very good. Accidentally added ketchup to the slow cooker at the beginning, but the result was great. My husband and three small children loved it!

Very good and very easy. Would make again. The sause added at the end gives it lots of flavor.
