We Tried The New M&M Flavors So You Don't Have To
So in the spirit of the 2016 Presidential election, Mars Candy has decided to roll out a pretty sweet concept: to unveil three new Peanut M&M flavors, Honey Nut, Coffee Nut, and Chili Nut, and have the public vote on their favorite. If curiosity strikes you, then by all means, snag a few bags and give them a try. However, I was able to try all three flavors and unfortunately I can't say I'd like to have a whole bag of them. I'm glad I tried them, they were good, but not original Peanut M&M's good. Want to see how they compared?
HONEY NUT M&M'S
These were my favorite out of the three. With a flavor reminiscent of toasted marshmallows, these were sweet, warm, and yummy. They seemed much sweeter than classic M&M's, and because of that reason I only had a few. They had me wishing that I had a bag of regular Peanut M&M's, which I found to be a common thread through all of these taste tests.
COFFEE NUT M&M'S
Supposedly these have gotten the highest reviews of the three. They definitely taste like coffee, and that kind of a twist on a classic M&M is interesting to have. But just like the Honey Nut version, I didn't want the whole bag. I think if they were actually caffeinated they would get even better reviews from all the java junkies out there, but as for me, they were just okay.
CHILI NUT M&M'S
I really like spicy food, hot sauce, and all things with a little kick, so I was really excited to try these. Cayenne pepper is sometimes added to sweet things, so this sounded right up that sweet/spicy alley. But here's the tricky thing, the chili heat gets stuck at the back of your throat afterward and is reeeeaaally unpleasant... It's a surprise, too, because the chili flavor isn't apparent right away. I was actually confused at first, I said, "Oh, that's weird, I don't taste any chili," but then immediately like, "OHHHH, there it is." It's one of those surprise kicks that sneaks in at the end. These would be great to prank people with. And again, I could only eat a few of these and the rest of the bag got tossed unfortunately. It's a great concept for a candy idea, but my verdict: No thanks, I'll take the regular Peanut M&M's please.
